Happy Presidents Day…Floating some facts about the Presidents.

We are celebrating two great American Presidents today, but also sharing that both these men were no strangers to boating, in fact, boats played a great role in forming this nation.

Of course Exhibit A is the famous Washington crossing the Delaware to surprise his enemies.

The one below you  may not have known is Abraham Lincoln himself was a river boat operator  from 1828 to 1831 in Indiana and New Salem. He even took a 1800 mile trip down the Mississippi to deliver corn while fighting off would be robbers along the way.

So we salute not only two great Presidents , but great boaters as well!

We have the recipe for a fun summer…just add you!

Many folks look at boating and wonder about the cost. The truth is you get far more for value for your dollar vs theme park family vacations or traveling to other far flung destinations. Traveling vacations cost as much, if not more, but limit your time to a few days or at most a week or two.

Now Open 10-2 on Saturdays!

It’s never too early to start planning your summer. Along with Vermilion’s Annual Ice Affair to remember in downtown Vermilion tomorrow, we will be open on Saturdays from 10-2 for any captains or crews who want to stop in and see all the fun we have available.

So if your headed out to “chill” in Vermilion and check out the ice-carvings downtown stop in, coffee and conversation is on the house.

After all, where would your boat like to spend the summer?

Romp’s Office for rent, where work and play meet.

Looking for office space in a scenic riverfront community? Look no further, we have an opening right here at Romps. Above our marine store and office is another set of offices, one of which has become available for rent.

The office is 17′ wide by 27′ long and comes with a bathroom, a 8′x10′ storage room with it’s own 7′ long closet. The rent includes all utilities and cable TV. The space is well lit, has nice views and is right in the center of Vermilion’s boating community. It is within walking distance to many fine restaurants and shops making entertaining customers or having meet and greets easy.

Thank You Captains and Crews!

We want to take a time to thank all of our captains and crews for stopping by and making our Open House a great success. It was so much fun to see our shipmates again, it makes us look forward to launch season.

Of course we were able to not only enjoy great food and beverages with everyone, but saw all kinds of prizes awarded as well, including $100 gas cards.

We look forward to seeing you soon as winter can’t last forever and spring is just around the corner. See you dockside!

I’m Hooked! The countdown to fun is on!

Despite an up and down winter, the countdown to fun is well underway.  We are getting the store in ship shape and ready to host our Open House and Customer Appreciation Weekend!  We sure hope all of our captains and crews make plans to stop by the home-port for some good time, fun food and beverages, plus great prizes!

Brrrrrrrrr! 8 Degrees this morning!

When  mother nature turns down the thermostat she doesn’t mess around. We woke up to a balmy 8 degrees today. After weeks of being spoiled by temps in and around 50 degrees, the true January showed up.

But we won’t let that dampen our resolve because in 8 days our Open House and Customer Appreciation weekend kicks off (see the post below).

One thing cold weather is good for are some clear skies and cool January colors.

We have the cure for the winter time blahs…

Sure the spring launch season seems far off, but every day we inch a little closer to the beginning of spring! Each passing day brings more sunlight and with it the anticipation of warmer weather to come.

In the meantime we have the cure for the winter time blahs, and that is our Annual Open House and Customer Appreciation Weekend, stop in on January 28th or 29th for fun, food and drinks, plus some great prizes. But best of all is a chance to catch up with us and other captains and crews!.
